The OCTOMAG coating system is based on magnetron sputtering working in an inert or reactive atmosphere. The basic version of the OCTOMAG M250 system is offered with 6 rectangular unbalanced magnetrons. In the extended version OCTOMAG M500, larger rectangular magnetrons are mounted. The equipment allows combining DC/HiPPMS power sources to sputter metal or compound targets.

- High wear resistance
- Low coefficient of friction (COF ~ 0.1)
- Low roughness (Ra ~ 10 nm)
- High hardness ( 18 – 25 GPa) even at high temperatures up to 600 C
- Low intrinsic stress level – very good adhesion (Lc ~ 120 N)
